ANXIETY RELIEVING SMOOTHIE

This anxiety relieving green smoothie is made with superfoods that may naturally reduce stress and anxiety.

Certain foods can actually help diminish stress and anxiety. This smoothie will help with that. But it won’t cure it.

Intake of the right foods for your gut and brain is just one of the pillars in maintaining a healthy level of mental health.

A combination of proper sleep, a purpose in life that you are passionate about and feels aligned, quiet time for yourself where you write and meditate, social contact (not a conversation on whatsapp but a face to face conversation) and some movement such as a walk/run or yoga class – the use of all of these mental health pillars in conjunction with each other, will stand you in far better stead than just a green smoothie alone.

Ingredients:

Spinach – leafy greens are a great source of a folate – This is a B vitamin that can help your body produce serotonin and dopamine. It is also rich in magnesium. Magnesium can reduce stress hormones, reduce inflammation and relax our nerves.

Yogurt – Yogurt is a fermented food and contains beneficial bacteria that impact your mood

Avocado – Avocados are loaded with B vitamins, vitamin E, potassium and magnesium. They also keep us feeling full. This combined with glucose regulating magnesium, can help keep glucose levels steady, preventing mood swings.

Banana – high in potassium and a great source of magnesium

Almond Milk – A good source of vitamin E and magnesium. Use unsweetened to control sugar intake.

Cinnamon, Tumeric and Nutmeg – Cinnamon regulates glucose levels. Turmeric which is considered a superfood, is loaded with antioxidants and can increase blood flow. Nutmeg reduces anxiety.
